Why Shopify makes sense for your e-shop
Shopify is a global e-commerce platform powering millions of stores worldwide, including brands like Allbirds, Gymshark, Mejuri and Tesla Merch. For a Czech business, Shopify offers three crucial advantages that are hard to match with a boxed platform or a self-hosted WooCommerce setup.
For you as the e-shop owner
- Speed to launch — a production e-shop runs in weeks, not months.
- No server, no plugin updates, no security headaches.
- Integrated payments and shipping carriers out-of-the-box.
- International expansion at a flip — multi-currency, multi-language, VAT rates.
For the marketing agency
- Stable platform — the store does not crash during a campaign.
- Clean analytics + native A/B testing without third-party tools.
- A vast app ecosystem for upsells, email, loyalty programs.
- Structured data for Meta Ads, Google Ads and Heureka that just works.
For performance and conversion
- Global CDN infrastructure — pages load in tenths of a second.
- Conversion-focused checkout (Shop Pay), mobile-optimised and battle-tested on billions of orders.
- Higher conversion than the typical Czech Shoptet thanks to a better checkout UX.
- 99.99% uptime SLA on Shopify Plus.
Shopify vs Shoptet vs WooCommerce — comparison for the Czech market
In Czechia, the choice almost always boils down to three platforms: Shopify (global), Shoptet (local leader) and WooCommerce (WordPress plugin). Each has its place, but in the vast majority of scenarios Shopify wins.
| Shopify | Shoptet | WooCommerce | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Monthly license | Monthly license | Self-hosted + maintenance |
| Page speed | |||
| 1-click checkout | ✓ Shop Pay | ||
| International e-shop | ✓ native | ~ limited | ~ plugins |
| Heureka / Zboží.cz feed | ✓ native | ~ plugin | |
| Zásilkovna / Packeta integration | ✓ apps | ✓ native | ~ plugin |
| PCI compliance | ✓ Shopify handles | ✓ Shoptet handles | ✗ your responsibility |
| Custom design / custom logic | ✓ Liquid + headless | ~ templates | ✓ but tricky |
| App ecosystem | ✓✓ massive | ~ smaller | ~ plugin quality varies |
| Best for | Brand-focused growth | Early-stage micro shops | WP-centric teams with devs |
Bottom line: Shoptet makes sense for a brand-new e-shop still finding its feet. WooCommerce only makes sense when you already run a strong WordPress backend with a dev team. For a serious store with ambition to grow a brand, Shopify offers the best performance × time × cost ratio.
What you actually save by moving to Shopify
Most Czech e-shop owners moving from a self-hosted WooCommerce or Shoptet to Shopify save serious money in year one — and just as importantly, free up their team to focus on work that actually drives revenue.
- Server maintenance and updates: Shopify hosts and updates itself. No monthly hosting administration bills.
- Security and PCI compliance: Shopify handles encryption, PCI compliance and payment security. With WooCommerce, all of that is on you.
- Development time: With 10k+ apps in the Shopify App Store, you usually find a solution that would otherwise take weeks of custom work.
- Downtime during campaigns: 99.99% uptime SLA on Shopify Plus — no lost orders during Black Friday or paid campaigns.
Conversion advantages your marketing team will appreciate
For a marketing agency or in-house marketer, Shopify is the most marketing-friendly Czech e-commerce platform. Here are the key advantages that translate into real campaign results.
- Shop Pay 1-click checkout: Mobile conversion typically 30–50% higher than a classic checkout. Works across all Shopify stores.
- Native A/B testing: No need to bolt on Google Optimize or pay for third-party tools.
- Structured data for Meta and Google: Meta Pixel + Conversion API + Google Tag from one place. No manual data-layer maintenance.
- Email marketing integrations: Klaviyo, Smartemailing, Ecomail, Mailchimp — all native, syncing customers and orders.
- Heureka, Zboží.cz and Google Merchant feeds: Feeds are generated automatically and update in real time.
When Shopify Plus pays off
Shopify Plus is the enterprise tier built for larger e-shops, B2B sellers and international brands. Most Czech stores are fine on standard Shopify — but here are the situations where Plus is the right call.
When to consider Shopify Plus
- Higher annual revenue where Plus fees start to make economic sense.
- B2B sales — Plus has native B2B with custom pricelists, NET payment terms and wholesale catalogs.
- International expansion — multiple storefronts (e.g. CZ / SK / DE / EU) with separate branding and currencies.
- Custom checkout — Shopify Functions and checkout customization not available on standard tier.
- Higher API limits + Shopify Flow automations.
Features beyond the standard tier
- Shopify Functions — custom serverless logic for discounts, shipping, payments.
- Shopify Flow — drag-and-drop automation without code.
- B2B portal with pricelists, payment terms and customer-specific catalogs.
- Up to 9 storefronts within one organisation.
- Dedicated success manager.
I'll get the exact Shopify Plus tier price for your situation directly from Shopify and we'll cover it in the consultation — Plus is usually negotiated based on revenue and bundled accordingly.
Headless Shopify (Hydrogen) — when and why
Headless Shopify means Shopify runs only as a backend (orders, products, checkout) while the frontend is built separately — typically in Next.js + Shopify Storefront API, or directly in Shopify Hydrogen (the official headless framework).
Headless makes sense when the brand wants a fully custom design, unique animations, unconventional storytelling, or integration with non-standard features. For 80% of Czech e-shops, a regular Liquid theme is enough — it's fast, well-optimised and has a great admin experience.
When headless makes sense
- A brand where design = identity and a template would kill it.
- Complex storytelling with long custom product page sections.
- Integration with specific backend systems (custom inventory, ERP, AI).
- International brand with regional variants and custom routing logic.
When a Liquid theme is enough
- Standard e-shop with conventional product structure.
- Teams without dedicated developers — Liquid is easy to edit.
- Faster launch and lower maintenance costs.
Migrating to Shopify — what you migrate and what to expect
The most common Shopify migrations in Czechia come from Shoptet, WooCommerce, Magento or PrestaShop. The migration is a smooth process that breaks down into four phases.
What migrates automatically
- Products including variants, images and descriptions.
- Categories / collections.
- Customers and their history.
- Orders (optional — for tax purposes).
What's rebuilt
- Theme / design — typically redesigned to take full advantage of Shopify.
- Shipping, invoicing, email marketing integrations — set up for the Shopify ecosystem.
- SEO redirects from old URLs to new — critical, otherwise you lose Google rankings.
- Product feed preparation for Heureka and Zboží.cz.
Migration timeline
- Small e-shop (up to ~500 products): 4-6 weeks.
- Medium (~5000 products, several integrations): 6-10 weeks.
- Large B2C/B2B + custom features: 10-16 weeks.
The biggest migration risk is a poorly set up 301 redirect strategy, which causes a short-term drop in Google rankings. We avoid this by mapping each old product and category URL to the new one before launch.

I'll prepare your custom quote — for free
A Shopify e-shop has many variables — number of products, integrations, custom theme vs. tweaked ready theme, migration from another platform, headless vs. Liquid. So there is no fixed pricelist.
Send me a short enquiry via the form or email. I'll get back within 24 hours with a free consultation and a tailored price proposal. If you decide otherwise, you've lost 30 minutes — if you decide to work together, you have full clarity on price, scope and timeline.
